Legal Statement for Peaceful Protest

This peaceful demonstration is organised in accordance with the rights enshrined in international human rights law, including Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which recognise the right to peaceful assembly.

We, the organisers and participants, affirm that this protest will remain non-violent and respectful of public order. Our objective is to draw attention to urgent environmental and social justice issues—particularly those affecting our oceans, coastal communities, and the climate—within the context of the UN Ocean Conference 2025.

This action is intended to raise awareness and foster constructive dialogue between civil society, governments, and institutions, and is in full alignment with democratic principles and international norms.

We will cooperate fully with local authorities and are committed to ensuring the safety of all participants, the public, and public property.
